Reading Homework
While I feel it is important for your child to practice the necessary skills and concepts we worked on in class, I do not want to overload my students with an abundance of homework assignments.
Every child should read for at least 15 minutes every night (older students should be reading for more than 15 minutes each evening) including weekends. What your child reads for Bajko homework can also be counted as their reading minutes for their general education classrooms.
Please have your child read aloud to/with an adult that can help to encourage and support their efforts. If your child is struggling with a word and is unable to figure it out on their own, please help him/her decode or figure out the word before leading to frustration.
Keep track of reading minutes on the weekly reading logs that I send home with your child each Monday. Many of the student's logs will travel back and forth to school each day with your child. I will check reading logs and parent notes and send them home each evening. Some students may not need to bring their logs in for review daily. Please make sure you keep track of your child's reading minutes so that they can track their minutes on our reading wall.
